91³Ô¹ÏÍø Club Sports is a comprehensive 30+ team program that operates within the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Recreation & Wellness Center. Club sports are recreational, competitive, and open to all 91³Ô¹ÏÍø students.

Student Experience

Participation in the Club Sports program provides many benefits including the opportunity to be part of a community, develop a social network, and take part in personal and professional growth. Students often develop individual skills, compete at the collegiate level, or learn a new sport. A successful club sport is led by dependable student officers who motivate their members, meet administrative deadlines, are financially responsible, and promote teamwork.Ìý

  • What are club sports?

    Club sports provide opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students with similar interests to participate in various sport and recreational activities. Club sportsÌýis different from intramural sports because of the program’s ability to provide competition at specialized levels. Although some clubs remain solely recreational, many are competitive. Club sports are managed by Student Organizations, Leadership, and Service, a part of Student Affairs.

  • Why should I join a club sport?

    91³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s Club Sports program gives students an opportunity to take part in the leadership, responsibility, and decision-making process of club activities. The success of the club is dependent on the professionalism and leadership shown by the club officers, advisors, and coaches. It is created for students and by students, under the supervision of the Club Sports professional staff. Club members nominate and elect student officers who run the day-to-day operations, which includes scheduling practices/activities/games, contracting trainers and referees, arranging transportation, and budgeting.

  • Who is eligible to join a club sport?

    Club sports participation is open to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who are not fully remote. However, eligibility for competition may have separate guidelines, as determined by the club’s governing body (if applicable).

  • Are there membership fees to join?

    In most cases, clubs charge membership dues (either on a yearly or semester basis) that covers or defers the costs of uniforms, equipment, and travel. Dues vary in range as the specific amount is determined by the club.

  • Are there tryouts?

    Some clubs host tryouts due to limited space and equipment, or to establish a competition roster. Some clubs have multiple teams that compete on varying levels to encourage higher participation. Please email the club president to find out more information about tryouts.

  • What is the time commitment?

    Practice times vary by club. Clubs determine the specific dates and times of practice each semester and may determine the number of practices a member must attend.
