This Postdoctoral position will be part of the Zwiebel Laboratory in the Department of Biological Sciences at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø and is a key research position responsible conducting independent research, obtaining independent funding, as well as mentoring undergraduate and graduate students The position demands both technical and theoretical skills to advance a scientific program related to the overall goals of the Zwiebel Laboratory. Reporting directly to the lab PI, LJ Zwiebel, this position will be expected to carry out the duties and responsibilities detailed below. The Department of Biological Sciences has an excellent staff to facilitate issue resolution involving personnel, financial management, supply and equipment orders proposal submission, and infrastructure. The faculty in the department carry out diverse research projects and often collaborate with other members within the department and in nearby departments. This department covers a broad spectrum of biology, from molecules and cells to tissues and organisms to populations and ecosystems. Award-winning faculty and graduate students teach and carry out research in Biochemistry, Structural Biology and Biophysics, Cell Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Computational Biology, Evolutionary Biology, Ecology, Developmental Biology, and Neurobiology.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the PI, conduct independent research on mosquito olfaction.
  • In collaboration with the PI, mentoring graduate student researchers in the Zwiebel Laboratory.
  • In collaboration with the PI, mentoring undergraduate student researchers in the Zwiebel Laboratory.
  • In collaboration with the PI, apply for and obtain external funding for independent research.
  • In collaboration with the PI, work with technical staff of the Zwiebel Laboratory
  • Other duties as assigned.
Application Details

A Bachelor’s Degree and a PhD (doctoral) degree in molecular biology, genomics or other related fields is necessary.

  • Research experience with genomics, and mosquito biology is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Team player mentality is desired.

 

Supervisory Relationships

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility; this position reports administratively to the departmental administrative manager and functionally to the Lab PI.
