We are proud to welcome our 2026 cohort of summer interns, marking the 15th year of the NSF REU program alongside the continued growth of the Summer Tech Crew, established in 2016. Together, these programs provide students with hands-on research and facility experience that supports innovation in nanoscale science and engineering.
This summer includes 17 interns, with 12 VINSE REU students and 5 Summer Tech Crew members. NSF REU interns will work closely with faculty and research groups on cutting-edge projects, while Summer Tech Crew members gain practical experience supporting shared user facilities. Throughout the program, interns will build technical skills, explore career pathways, and contribute meaningfully to the broader research community.
Equally important to this experience are the mentors who guide and support our students. This year, 12 91³Ô¹ÏÍø graduate student mentors and 16 faculty and staff members are contributing their time and expertise to make this program possible. Their dedication ensures that each participant receives meaningful guidance and a strong foundation for future success.
Be sure to follow along throughout the summer as we introduce each intern and mentor and highlight their work and experiences. We look forward to a summer of discovery, collaboration, and growth.
