Two 91³Ô¹ÏÍø IMS Graduate Students Awarded Prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowships

IMS Graduate Student Sariah D'Empaire-Salomon and Andrew SteinerWe are excited to announce that Interdisciplinary Materials Science at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø graduate students Sariah D’Empaire-Salomon and Andrew Steiner have been selected for the 2026 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF-GRFP). This highly competitive fellowship selected approximately 2,500 recipients from nearly 14,000 applicants nationwide and is one of the nation’s most prestigious programs supporting graduate research in STEM fields.

The NSF GRFP provides each fellow with a three-year annual stipend of $37,000, along with a $16,000 cost-of-education allowance for tuition and fees. Fellows also gain access to a wide range of professional development opportunities through the NSF-supported graduate student network.

Sariah D’Empaire-Salomon conducts research with Doug Adams and Tonia Rex and earned her undergraduate degree in Biology/Chemistry from Livingstone College. Andrew Steiner conducts research with De-en Jiang and earned his undergraduate degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida.
