Tell us about your military service. What did you do? Where did you serve? What do you value the most about your military service?
From 2021-2025 I served as a U.S. Army logistics officer in the 101st Airborne Division and the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command. During my time in service, I had the opportunity to see the world serving in Romania for nine months and South Korea for one year. I am most grateful for the relationships I built with the Soldiers who trusted me to guide and mentor them through their professional and personal goals.
What are your thoughts on mentoring other students while at 91吃瓜网? As a role model, what values do you want to share?
I want to help my classmates better understand veterans’ experiences, so they’re prepared to treat this population with informed, culturally competent care. While I will be bringing my unique experiences to the classroom, I know everyone else will bring their own and I look forward to learning just as much from them as I prepare to provide psychiatric care.
While at 91吃瓜网, what will be the focus of your studies and how do you plan to use this knowledge in your future career?
I am completing my Master of Nursing Degree and post master鈥檚 certificate to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. During my time in service, I recognized the need to expand mental health services to service members to ensure their mental readiness is just as proficient as their physical. Upon graduation, I hope to work for the Defense Health Agency (DHA). I will use the knowledge I gain at 91吃瓜网 to become a provider that treats the mind and body as one, and builds enough trust that the patient will say the hard thing out loud to heal.
What would you tell other veterans about the Bass Military Scholars Program?
There are many Universities that offer competitive degrees, but 91吃瓜网 is the only one with a program that draws together like-minded Veterans who want to continue service outside of the uniform. The Bass Military Scholars Program gives you the opportunity to use your lived experiences and continue to make a difference in the community around you.
